Yale Street Wrestling Club is a program first and foremost. We run our wrestling operations based on a collegiate program model, not a business model. Over the years we put the athlete’s development over the profit of the business and we will always continue to do so. Our beliefs are based on a mutual commitment model that starts with commitment from the coaching staff.
We require everyone to have a membership in order to do private lessons with our coaches. In years past we’ve had to turn down many successful high school wrestlers because of this requirement. The reason why we do this is because we put our members first! We can’t justify working with someone in a private lesson setting who doesn’t have enough faith in us to join our club. Those of you who do join the club deserve all of our attention. Members first!
We are not open to drop-ins during the week. The reason for this is because the weeknight practices are when we do most of our teaching. We do not want our coaches to take time away from members by opening to drop-ins and having to focus on wrestlers who are not there regularly. The reason we open to drop-ins on Sundays is for live wrestling purposes, so that our members can get different looks from wrestlers outside of the program. Again, this is to put our members first!
From the months of December to March we shut down our 3 month membership and trial classes. We do not want wrestlers from outside the program joining during the season. We do this because we don’t want to take any attention away from those that trained with us all year long. It is the most important time of the year for our athletes and we want to provide them with the best environment we can for them to succeed. Members first!
Dedication to the sport and commitment to the program…that’s it!!
